Decentralization Grant Program (DEC) | Arts In Education (AIE)
Decentralization Grant Program (DEC):
NYSCASupporting the Arts! Funded by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), and "decentralized" through arts organizations in counties around the state, these grants are awarded to not-for-profit groups for arts-related projects. The program is intended to expand, upgrade, and increase arts and cultural programming on the local level. These activities may include, but are not limited to, professional and vocational levels in theater, dance, music, film, video, literature, visual arts, museums, and history related activities held for the benefit of the general public. The North Country Cultural Center for the arts administers the program locally, regranting funds annually to qualified Clinton and Northern Franklin County groups through a panel process.

Arts In Education

Arts In Education (AIE):

The Adirondack Arts in Education Partnership (AAIEP) was founded in January 2004 for the purpose of cultivating quality arts-based programs in North Country schools throughout Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton - and most recently - Warren counties in New York. Grants are available through its Local Capacity Building (LCB) Arts in Education regrant program to support partnerships between schools and regional teaching artists or cultural organizations that incorporate the study of the arts and non-arts subjects. The AAIEP also administers a regional Arts in Education Roundtable consisting of interested non-profit organizations, artists and schools that addresses the needs of area schools, teaching artists, cultural organizations and interested constituents through professional development and networking opportunities, outreach, technical assistance and Arts in Education advocacy.

To date, the AAIEP has benefited nearly 3,500 students and helped to increase spending for AIE programming by almost $100,000 throughout 18 school districts (24 schools) region-wide!

The Local Capacity Building Initiative (LCB) is a type of Arts in Education regrant program, funded and supported by the Arts in Education Program at the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and administered by specific sites across New York State to provide local support for participation in Arts in Education. As an established LCB site, the Adirondack Arts in Education Partnership (AAIEP) administers these matching grants throughout Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton and Warren counties in support of partnerships between North Country schools and local teaching artists or cultural organizations. Projects focus on the integrated study of the arts and non-arts subjects and involve direct collaboration between classroom teachers and teaching artists who use a co-teaching method to integrate the arts into the curriculum.

For more information about the Adirondack Arts in Education Partnership and its AIE regrant program, visit the website or contact AAIEP Coordinator, Janine Scherline via email at adkartsined@charter.net or by phone at: 518-643-2892.
